The night in the plane was not really enjoyable but we had some sleep anyway. After the landing we collected our baggage (which fortunately arrived together with us) and picked up the car.

Our first stop was Rustenberg Wines near Stellenbosch sheltered by the Simonsberg. The area looks very much like in the Alps but on a closer look one can see that vegetation is completely different here.

Of course we had to taste the wines and we liked some very much so we even bought one bottle. The tasting glasses are Austrian manufacture by the way...

Next stop was Boschendal, one of the oldest estates of South Africa. The Cape Dutch Manor House is open for the public.

After a first taste of South African cuisine (bobotie) we drove to Franschhoek for a little town walk and some shopping.

Our first two nights we spent at the De Wingerd Guesthouse in Paarl. =>
